Musings….
Whatever life has thrown at you, chances are music has helped you through it. For me, that’s the best thing about it.
Music helps us heal, offers comfort and brings us together. It puts words to feelings we can’t always express. As songwriters, we give those feelings a voice by sharing something honest about ourselves, even when it leaves us vulnerable.
For me, songwriting is therapy. It makes you dig deep and be honest with yourself, revealing the parts of us that have been hurt, the parts that are beautiful and the parts ready to heal.
If someone hears a song and recognises something of their own life in it, we’ve made a connection. That’s what matters. Sharing our experiences helps us feel less alone.
I was a lonely child, and writing poems and songs was like having a best friend.
It gave me somewhere to put the feelings I didn’t know how to express.
